EEUU se prepara para repostar los aviones israelíes en su posible ataque a Irán
A raíz de las llamadas israelíes a los EEUU para endurecer su postura sobre el programa de energía nuclear de Irán, funcionarios del Pentágono han anunciado los preparativos para el reabastecimiento en vuelo de aviones de Israel que podrían atacar a Irán.
Los funcionarios del Pentágono, que hablaron bajo condición de anonimato, reveló el jueves que “las opciones militares de ser preparada de inicio con la provisión de reabastecimiento de combustible para los aviones israelíes e incluyen atacar los pilares Irán.”
“Ellos incluyen el Cuerpo de los Guardianes de la Revolución Islámica de Irán y su fuerza de elite Qods, las bases militares iraníes y el Ministerio de Inteligencia y Seguridad”, citó DEBKAfile a los funcionarios de la agencia.
Las observaciones constituyen una referencia pública por parte de Washington a una posible acción militar conjunta con Israel contra Irán.
Un informe del Wall Street Journal reveló el martes que el primer ministro israelí, Benjamin Netanyahu, y otros altos funcionarios de Tel Aviv han puesto a los EE.UU. y al presidente Barack Obama bajo presión para adoptar una política más agresiva con respecto al programa de energía nuclear de Irán.
En una reunión en la Casa Blanca el 5 de marzo, Netanyahu se espera que presione a Obama para una amenaza explícita de una acción militar contra Teherán más allá de la regular “todas las opciones están sobre la mesa”, si Irán se niegan a abandonar su programa de energía nuclear en la estela de la reciente intensificación de las sanciones.
Ministro de Defensa israelí, Ehud Barak, también ha viajado a Washington, donde se discutieron las formas de acercarse a Irán con EE.UU. El secretario de Defensa, Leon Panetta, el miércoles.
Los Estados Unidos, Israel y algunos de sus aliados acusan a Irán de perseguir objetivos militares en su programa de energía nuclear y han utilizado este pretexto para imponer las sanciones internacionales y unilaterales contra la República Islámica y llamar a un ataque militar contra Teherán.
Irán ha refutado las acusaciones occidentales, argumentando que como signatario del Tratado de No Proliferación (TNP) y miembro de la Agencia Internacional de Energía Atómica (OIEA), que tiene derecho a desarrollar y adquirir tecnología nuclear con fines pacíficos.
