El Presidente israelí pide poner fin a la retórica de guerra y amenazas contra Irán
El presidente israelí, Shimon Peres, ha pedido a las autoridades israelíes poner fin a su retórica de guerra contra Irán, al describir estos comentarios como anti-iraníes y ser comentarios como innecesarios y guerreristas.
Peres dijo a los funcionarios israelíes de que no hay ningún punto en la “incesante auto-intimidación”, y que Israel debe dejar “el tema de Irán a las grandes potencias, en primer lugar los Estados Unidos”, informó el diario israelí Haaretz el jueves.
El informe también dijo que Peres se espera que diga a EE.UU. El presidente Barack Obama en una próxima reunión en donde (Peres) no cree que Israel debería atacar a Irán en un futuro próximo.
El 5 de febrero, el primer ministro israelí, Benjamin Netanyahu, igualmente había sido advertido y a los ministros de su partido de centro derecha Likud para evitar hacer declaraciones sobre un posible ataque militar contra Irán, diciendo que tales observaciones podría ser perjudicial para Israel.
“La charla causa grandes daños, coloca a Israel en el frente y obstaculiza los esfuerzos de sanción”, dijo Netanyahu durante una reunión ministerial del Likud en el este de al-Quds (Jerusalén).
El 2 de febrero, ministro de Defensa israelí, Ehud Barak, dijo que si las sanciones occidentales impuestas contra Irán no detiene su programa nuclear, una acción militar contra el país se debe poner en la agenda.
El viceprimer ministro israelí Moshe Ya’alon también ha amenazado a Irán con un ataque militar contra sus instalaciones nucleares.
Los Estados Unidos, Israel y algunos de sus aliados acusan a Teherán de perseguir objetivos militares en su programa nuclear. Washington y Tel Aviv han amenazado en repetidas ocasiones a Teherán con la “opción” de un ataque militar contra sus instalaciones nucleares.
Irán sostiene que como signatario del Tratado de No Proliferación Nuclear y miembro de la Agencia Internacional de Energía Atómica (OIEA), que tiene todo el derecho a desarrollar y adquirir tecnología nuclear con fines pacíficos.
El OIEA ha llevado a cabo numerosas inspecciones de las instalaciones nucleares de Irán, pero nunca ha encontrado ninguna evidencia que indique que el programa nuclear civil de Teherán ha sido desviada a la producción de armas nucleares.

If you were talking about an nrvewhelmiog majority of israeli’s , probably 80% plus wuld say they want a peace deal….however different groups within that want RADICALY diferent terms in a peace dealThat too is true of the Palestinians too though some would settle for 1967 borders, others want 1948 and others don’t want an Israel to exist at all. In the end a peace deal will be whatever they can get the Palestinians and Israelis to agree to in sufficient majority on both sides that you don’t have Israel occupying or controlling any of the agreed Palestinian areas and you don’t have any rockets/missiles flying in either direction.1. The possibilty of a peace deal that means anything is remote at best, while the US supports Israel. I doubt if this will change with Obama in power.I agree I’m very skeptical we’re going to see any change. But I think the international players will want to give a peace deal the best chance, and issuing arrest warrants for Hamas and Israeli leaders for war crimes is going to distract from any negotiations which might occur.2. If you extend this argument to other juristictions you’d be giving up on prosecuting half the criminal acts committed on the basis that prosecution may have negative consequences. Why should international criminal law be any different?I think politically it would look pretty bad for the UN to only go after Israeli leaders for war crimes when its pretty clear that Hamas also has been committing war crimes. It’d be like the police turning up to fight between two gangs and only arresting people from one side even though its clear that both sides have committed criminal acts.On the other hand if it was possible to actually arrest and remove leaders from Israel and Hamas who have committed war crimes it would send a powerful message to both sides. I just don’t think that is possible.
